OOTD! 28th September 2012

In case you haven't really realized, everytime I go out, I will try my best to remember to do an Outfit of the Day (aka OOTD) post (:

So today, 28th September, what's the special occasion? :O

Today is my dearest sister-in-law, Priscina, birthday. And her parents were very kind and allowed her to bring 2 friends. And Priscina chose me. Which I'm super honored!

So anyway, it's a small dinner party but it was held at Crowne Plaza Hotel at Changi Airport; Terminal 3. And since we were dining at a restaurant in a hotel at Changi Airport. It somehow just clicked that I cannot be dressed too sloppily since after all, it's a HOTEL. Hence I decided to wear a dress! (:

The LOOK:
Dress; Chinatown boutique
Jacket; gift? :O
Accessories;
1) Belt: ~$10. Roadside store near Temasek Polytechnic
2) Ear rings: ~$5. Bugis street
3) Bracelet: ~$5. Bugis street
4) USA Disney Necklace: Gift
Shoes; ~$20. Chinatown boutique

Okay. So when I was thinking of wearing a dress, the first thing that came to my mind was my prom dress! Yes you read correctly. The red polka dot dress I wore today is actually my prom dress. (: it's a red dress with small minuscule white polka dots. The dots aren't really that large. Rather, it's smaller and from afar, one can easily mistaken it as a plain red dress.

This dress has an A-line cut. The top is a very conservative boat neck cut. Its sleeveless hence showing off some skin. It does not synch in or anything, and this is super cool as it allows the wearer to 'adjust' where their thinnest part of their body is. Also, without the elastic that synch in the waistline, the dress looks more on the formal end.

The bottom of the dress, is cut in an A cut silhouette - meaning its a flare. Because its a flare, it gives a false impression of curves that did not be there. And this is one way to make others believe that you have an absolutely gorgeous figure. Also, the skirt is plaited hence giving it a small pop instead of it just being all plain and boring.

For my belt, I used a rather chocolate-y brown colored belt. The reason why is cause I only have this belt. HAHA! Well firstly, I bought this colour cause brown is a neutral colour. Hence it can really easily match with other colors regardless on where it is in the colour wheel. The belt is a skinny woven belt. As the belt is too long, what I did was I used the excess belt to make into an infinity loop at the front (near the buckle) of the belt. This tip was learnt from Chriselle Lim for Chriselle Inc.

As I was not going to go straight to the hotel, I decided to put on this dark wash denim jacket. This denim jacket cuts off at my waist, and the material isn't too think or thin. Although the jacket had pictures on it, but it was minimal and really did not make the whole outfit look too overboard. The denim jacket, in my opinion, really toned down the formal look of the dress.

Next up, the shoes I wore my white peep toe wedges that I (once again!) wore to my prom! (: now white shoes is cause there's white on my dress (the polka dots)!

Now the ear rings I wore was the blue and green polka dots ear rings that I got at Bugis street not long back. I chose this pair of ear rings, well mainly cause they are my FAVORITE pair of ear rings, but also cause blue and green are complementary colors to the red. Simply put it, in the colour wheel, red is directly opposite blue and green. Hence this allows them to complement each other and work in harmony (; another reason is cause of the polka dot pattern on the ear ring~

Now for 'jewelry'. For bracelet, I are the wrapped bracelet that I got at Bugis street. Firstly, it's very classic. I mean it IS black and gold. Secondly, the gold chains of the bracelet will help make the overall look less formal, and more relaxed. (:

I did not wear any rings neither did I wear any necklace. Cause I felt that adding those pieces will be an overkill. So yah!

Hope you liked today's OOTD post! Do stay tune for more legit posts!(: till then, stay happy!

JYANNNN!
CHLOÉ

P.s: HAPPY BDAY to Priscina and Angela!

P.p.s: a big THANKYOU to Priscina's parents for inviting me (and Sophia) :D
