18 October - Insanity at its best! Trip to USS (PART I)

OH HAIIII!

Yep, I do know that this blog hasn't been updated since I don't know when. HAHA! Has been super busy with stuff and especially since school is starting in like less than 2 days, I need to reset my body clock so that it's suitable for school days.

Anyway, this thursday (18 October 2012), me and Jiayu went to Universal Studios Singapore!

Me and the ICONIC Universal Studios Globe (Which is placed outside of Universal Studios instead of INSIDE meaning you need not go into USS to take picture with the globe, you just need to be NEAR USS to take picture with the globe. Sure, that totally make sense!)
Anyway, I met JiaYu at Bedok interchange to take bus 30 to Vivocity to then take the monorail to USS! Where we took picture with the iconic globe which I had a little dilemna as to why the globe is like the icon for USS but is placed outside USS? Its like Ah Meng is the icon for the Singapore Zoological Gardens and they put Ah Meng's enclosure outside the gates of the Singapore Zoological Garden. I mean what sense is this?! /:

Well, but cause I got to take a picture with it, I don't have any further thing to say about it except I can't understand their logic. So we originally wanted to take picture with the globe before we went to buy the tickets, but later thought otherwise when we saw how CROWDED the perimeters of the globe was and went to buy the tickets first. Well, I mean the globe won't run away right? HAHA.

So we went to queue up for the tickets and I realized that the queue seems to move like super slowly cause at almost every single corner, there will be at least one tourist/group taking a picture. And apparently they want full length pictures seeing how far the photographer is standing from the person in the picture. And because of that, the queue for an instant seems like its totally stagnant. When its not. Its like totally a false impression please? Psh.

Well, anyway other than that, we got our tickets rather quickly. And instead of paying normal price for the tickets, we paid $55 per ticket. And reason for it is cause we are students! Polytechnic students to be exact... and at this time, we have this offer that say if we present our Matriculation card, we need not pay the full price and will have a approximately $10 discount.  Hence $55 for the tickets. Well, no complains about it! We clinched such a sweet deal #whistles.

USS Tickets! $55! (: #nofilter
Well, so after we got our ticket, we faced a dilemma (That recurred throughout the day.) and that is how on earth do we take a full body picture of both of us together? Well ask someone to help us take right? I mean duh. Yah, but imagine one whole bunch of people taking pictures and we are like looking at who is free to help us take. Haish... but thank God, we met several kind people who agreed to help us take(: But mostly we just take individual pictures (hence explaining alot of solo pictures.)

A picture of me & Jiayu with the iconic USS globe!
After taking the necessary pictures outside of USS, we finally entered USS and although we saw Po from Kungfu Panda, we totally skipped him and went straight to the rides.

The first ride we took was Battle Star Galitica - Human. HAHA, and cause we weren't allowed to bring loose stuff like bags, hats, sunglasses up the ride, we went to book a locker that is free for the initial 30minutes. And because sunglasses were prohibited on the ride, so we deduced that this would mean that spectacles was too not allowed, so for like the 30minutes, I was as blind as a bat. Also, cause handphone was also not allowed, we could not take any pictures or whatsoever. So /: Yeah, so after riding the Human track for I think 3 times, we went to ride the Cylon track twice. However, the second one it started to drizzle and we were like super worried that we can't ride it, cause some rides will be closed when its raining or drizzling. However, we could ride it. Cause I think the rain wasn't that strong YET.

Although it was like the same ride, but in the rain, everything somehow feel different. Like when its raining, there's a different kind of thrill and excitement. Well one new experience is when the droplets of rain were like dropping on the underside of my eyes when we did the 360 degrees loop. Really hard to explain the entire experience. But, the exhilaration was like literally at a new pinnacle. If the rain didn't seem to intensify, I reckon that I might go and ride it a third ime. But I didn't.

Feelings for Battle Star Galatica (Human) - Although people were like "Hey, this is like the main thing of USS." but honestly, I was like super duper lukewarm with it. I don't know. But although they say that the Human track has loops and stuff, but I can't really feel it. Its like, a very meh experience. I know its hard to believe cause I'm like screaming, but its the thing that screaming makes the entire experience fun. But honestly, I'm a tad disappointed cause to me, it really did not meet my expectation. When I came down the first time I was like, "Oh, okay".

Feelings for Battle Star Galatica (Cylon) - This was slightly better then the former. Maybe cause the track is more elaborated and all. In the entire track, you go through the 360 degrees loop like twice and each time you go through it, the bottom of the loop will be a ditch with mist spraying. So that is the only thing that was different so to speak. But overall, I personally felt that it wasn't worth that much cooing.

Cause it was close to pouring outside, we decided to play an indoor roller coaster instead, and one of the rides that has been constantly said as brilliant, was the Return of the Mummy ride. So we went there. Like the Battle Star Galatica ride, no loose articles were allowed, so we had to go and grab a locker. But because it was raining, everybody had the exact same thinking as us and was rushing to the Mummy's ride so the lockers area was flooding with people. Thankfully, we managed to get a locker after much queuing in the lockers. Once we got our stuffs safe and locked in the locker, we went to queue up for the ride. Now like Battlestar Galatica, I placed my spectacles in my bag which was in the locker so I could not see clearly. When we entered the ride's compound, the first thing I could figure out was the walls littered with hieroglyphs (also known as the Ancient Art of Egyptian Writing). And instantly I'm like "Prince of Egypt!" in my mind. Until half way through the maze that led to the ride, I kinda realized in my mind that Prince of Egypt is a Disney film #facepalm .. /:

Remember this scene from the Prince of Egypt? - Hieroglyphs can be seen in between the drawings.
Well, I know its like a little stupid of me, I mean this ride is endeared as the "Mummy" ride, and Prince of Egypt clearly has no signs of ANY Mummy. However, I don't watch the Mummy flicks, I only see it in the advertisements, so if I see anything Egyptian, I would naturally link it to Prince of Egypt which is the ONLY show I watched that had something to do in Ancient Egypt. So super sorry that I'm so much in love with the Prince of Egypt.

Anyway, cause of the rain, we took the ride twice, and for both times I was super worried/scared. And both time was for entirely different reasons. The first one I can prolly laugh at my cowardice, but the second one, i would push the blame to that particular reason.

Feelings for the Return of the Mummy ride: For the first time I rode it, I was a little paranoid everytime the ride came to a stop when it has not even ended (which FYI, is like 5 times?!)  and the reason was cause alot of people were talking about the dropping of a mummy which I was super freaked out by. So everytime the ride stopped (somehow I rationalized that that's where the mummy can appear since its like.. you know?) I got super paranoid and began peeking through my fingers cause I didn't want to see the mummy drop from the ceiling and scare the shit out of me. Turn out? There was NO mummy dropping. Don't get your hopes up kiddos. Those times when the mummy is seen above you, its not even scary. Sure you get a shock of your life, but its not enough to induce a screaming frenzy. And the sudden backward jerk? Psh! The only time I will say that was truly scary was when the mummys suddenly pop out on your sides and some water splash onto you. Not, its not really that scary.
However one thing I would so totally love to credit is that the effects were real good. There was this scene when the top suddenly was in flame (CGI btw...) and you honestly can feel it warming up like the fire is actual some legit burning fire. Another thing was the lighting, at some moments, the lighting were just magnificent and breath taking. However, it didn't add much on to the spectacle of the ride. It was just like a small cherry on the watery sundae.

The second time however, I was totally worried about the entire ride safety. And the reason why is cause this lady beside me, wore her raincoat up on the ride and before she put on the harness and stuff, she took out her raincoat, folded it and sandwiched in between the harness and I'm not sure what's the other thing. And that really freaked me out. Imagine what was to happen if the raincoat drop out of the ride? It will fall onto the track and then it might jam some gears and then something will happen! I was literally praying super hard before the ride started that nothing will happen in the duration of the ride. And THANK GOD nothing happen. Kids, when the instructions say to remove all loose particular INCLUDING RAINCOATS, please jolly well remove it. If you don't value your safety, I value mine. Totally pissed off with the lady's inconsiderate act. I know it might seem like I'm over reacting, but honestly, I really don't want to die cause of someone's idiocy. If anything WERE to happen to the ride, I would rather it be due to a system error or SOMETHING that could not be controlled and not cause someone's RAINCOAT fell out of the cabin and got caught in the gears blahblahblah! GOSH!

After the second ride, I just got super sian with the ride (prolly cause of the disappointment and all?) and we decided to catch some shows and just walk around while its raining. And so that was exactly what we did. So we took out the map and decided to go and take a short walk and take pictures as much as we could #fauxtourist. So beside Ancient Egypt was the Lost World which was basically Jurassic Park! We decided not to go in but instead take some pictures with the figures at the Lost World entrance

Look what I found! Eggs! :DD
Now, there's a reason why I am standing under the dinosaur and pointing at the eggs (disputably the Dinosaurs leg). well the reason is at this time it was raining, pouring actually, and we only have one umbrella. And if one was to take it, the other one would be wet. And both isn't a good thing. So later I realized that we could actually stand under the dinosaur, that person would be sheltered from the rain. Hence, the post. HAHA! Well you can clearly see a massive dinosaur (from the background and the leg) and the egg in the middle. HAHA! So job well done~~ :D

HAHA, after taking picture with this big guy, we decided to continue our journey and travel to the land of Far Far Away, where we decided to stop and take more pictures.
I found it! I found it! I'm at Far Far Away Land!

And in the background, you can see the castle in the Far Far Away Land
The places we could stand was really limited cause it was pouring so we could only take pictures when we were certain that there would be shelter. Hence the 2 pictures above were taken under an arch.

While walking, we saw like this theater and since it was still raining, we decided to go and watch the shop hopefully when we exit the theater, the rain would either be lighter or in the best case, completely ceased.

Poster on the Stage
The show was called Donkey Live and basically its a live show hosted by Donkey (who is well known as being Shrek's side kick voiced by Eddie Murphy in the movie). In order to enter the theater, it took well, quite awhile. And considering the long wait to enter, we somehow would expect more from the show. I mean this is sort of like to compensate the long wait right? But turn out? The show was brilliant for young kids. But for kids a little older, it was simply boring and would only be fun if you hype yourself up. Or else, it was rather dry. After watching this performance, I was so disappointed and let down that I decided not to watch any more shows.

Donkey, why are you so short? But s'okay! I still love you! #hugs
One good thing, however came out from the show. After watching the show and exiting from the theater, we realized that the rain has finally stopped! So we could now walk without the need of an umbrella or finding shelters! Still in Far Far Away, we went further down to take some more pictures.

only my shrink-gun xD

I now pronounce you Lamp and wife, you may hug the Lamp.
The lamp picture was actually a rather hilarious picture (for me), cause I originally wanted to do a very common hugging pose (with a lamp), but turn out, the lamp base was too fat... so it kind failed... But, oh well! After this picture, we finally exited land of Far Far Away!

Picture in front of the exit.
Next up was the land of Madagascar! :DD
Beware of the... ogre? In Madagascar? :/

Spot the penguins (if you can) :B

Our first time on the merry-go-round (in USS)! :D

Monkey reading newspaper?! :o

Can you spot whose pose I'm doing? :B

Picture with the attraction at Madagascar
Other than the carousel, we did not play any other games.

HAHA! Realized how long this post it, so I think I shall divide it into 2 parts (or more...) cause there is still a fair bit more /: HAHA! So until the next post~ Byeeeee! :B

Tralalala!
